Shedeur Sanders To Start Under Center for Colorado Buffaloes

Deion Sanders' son expected to lead Buffaloes offense

Quarterback competition ends as Buffs prepare for 2023

After a highly publicized quarterback competition, Shedeur Sanders has emerged as the starter for the Colorado Buffaloes football team. The son of legendary NFL player and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur is expected to lead the Buffaloes offense in 2023.

Sanders, a four-star recruit, transferred to Colorado from Jackson State, where he played for his father the previous two seasons. In 2022, Sanders threw for 3,310 yards and 30 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to an 11-2 record and the SWAC championship.

Sanders is known for his strong arm and athleticism. He is also a talented runner, which could make him a dangerous dual-threat quarterback for the Buffaloes.

Sanders will be tasked with leading a Colorado offense that struggled in 2022. The Buffaloes averaged just 18.9 points per game last season, which ranked 124th in the FBS.

Coach Sanders is confident that his son can be the catalyst for a turnaround in Boulder.

"Shedeur is a special talent," Sanders said. "He has all the tools to be a great quarterback. I'm excited to see what he can do in our offense."

Sanders will make his first start for the Buffaloes in their season opener against Colorado State on Sept. 2.
