Team USA survived a first-half scare vs Australia in the first Olympic semifinal on Thursday, turning a 15-point deficit into a 94-87 victory. The USA will now face Serbia in the gold medal game on Saturday.
Patty Mills scored 30 points for Australia, leading a stunning comeback after the Boomers trailed by 10 points at the half. However, Team USA clamped down defensively in the second half, holding Australia to just 12 points in the third quarter.
Kevin Durant led the way for Team USA with 23 points, while Jayson Tatum added 20 and Damian Lillard scored 19. The Americans will be looking to win their fourth consecutive gold medal in Rio.
Australia will now face Spain in the bronze medal game on Saturday.
The USA Basketball Showcase 2024 Abu Dhabi will feature the Australian men's basketball team playing against the American team and Serbia.
